Evant is governed by a Mayor and City Council who are elected by the people of the City.

The Mayor & City Council acting together are the Governing Body.

 

The Governing Body, being the elected representative of the people, adopts all ordinances and resolutions and determines general goals and policies.

 

Questions for the Council: 

Those interested in addressing the Council may do so at any meeting during the public notice section on the agenda as directed by the mayor. In order for the council to respond to a citizen's comments, the citizen's name and a description of the topic must appear on the agenda.  To be placed on the agenda, notification should be made no later than Tuesday prior to the following Monday's meeting. A written request is required, stating the reason for the appointment and topic to be addressed and this will be placed on the agenda for the council's consideration. This rule is in accordance with state law and the Open Meetings Act.
